WA Folders changelog
What changed in each WA Folders release, newest first. Dates are when the version went live on the Chrome Web Store. Chrome updates the extension on its own.
1.3.5
October 18, 2026
- New installs get a Get started card that makes your first folder in one step: type a name or tap Family, Work or Clients, then press Add.
- The "Is WA Folders working for you?" question now shows only after something has worked for you, such as your first export, and asks at most twice.
- Chats filed in bulk from Suggest folders no longer count toward that question.
- The panel header no longer jumps when the check mark appears, and the title "WA Folders" is no longer cut off.
1.3.4
October 17, 2026
- The support email in the popup is now toolshed+wafolders@mail.grokbot.com.
1.3.3
October 16, 2026
- The Pro button in the popup and the panel now reads "Unlock Pro, $4.99 once". Pro is a one-time payment.
- The review request shows once after a natural success, like your third export, and never more than twice. "Not now" waits 30 days.
1.3.2
October 15, 2026
- AI agent access, off by default: Claude Desktop, Cursor, Codex or any MCP app can list, search and summarize only the folders you tick, through a local bridge on your computer. It can never send a WhatsApp message.
- Revoke all agent access in Settings turns it off and removes Chrome's permission in one click.
- Store description fixes for Arabic, Spanish, Hindi and Indonesian. (1.3.0 and 1.3.1 were never released; their changes ship here.)
1.2.9
October 11, 2026
- Your own "Message yourself" chat no longer shows up in Needs reply, Questions for me or Waiting on them.
- The panel no longer covers the right edge of message bubbles.
- Typing a folder name no longer leaks the first letter into WhatsApp's message box.
- A "Rate WA Folders" link in the panel and popup footers.
1.2.8
October 10, 2026
- Needs reply and Questions for me fill in from the chat list as soon as WhatsApp Web loads, before you open any chat.
- Limit messages show real counts, for example "3 of 3 exports used today".
- A calmer first run: one card at a time, and folder suggestions no longer open by themselves.
- AI buttons are hidden when no AI is available, instead of showing greyed out.
- Chrome asks for permission to reach api.polar.sh only when you confirm a license key.
1.2.7
October 9, 2026
- A short What's new note after each update. Fresh installs don't see it.
- The toolbar popup shows today's transcriptions and translations.
- Fixed the panel jumping its scroll position after clicks.
- If the Accurate voice model runs out of memory, you get a clear message and a "Use Light and try again" button.
- With your own Anthropic key you can pick the Claude model in Settings, and Draft a reply answers in the chat's language (Portuguese, Spanish or English).
1.2.6
October 8, 2026
- Translate messages: click Translate next to a message or a voice-note transcript to read it in Portuguese, English or Spanish. Translate draft turns your reply into another language in the message box, and Undo brings your original back. Free: 20 a day.
- Voice notes to text: click Transcribe under a voice note. The speech model runs on your computer after a one-time download you agree to, or you can use your own OpenAI or Gemini key. Free: 5 a day.
1.2.4
October 6, 2026
- The panel moved off WhatsApp's chat list and search box into the conversation area, and folds into a small tab when space is tight.
- Opening a chat from a folder, a tab, search or Ctrl+K works on the live WhatsApp Web.
- Deleting a folder asks inline with Delete or Cancel.
- Pro has no plan limits.
- First-run folder suggestions from the chat names on screen. Nothing is filed until you press Add these.
- The blur shortcut is Alt+Shift+U (Alt+Shift+B belongs to Chrome).
- CSV exports use ";" where commas are decimal separators, so they open cleanly in Excel.
1.2.3
October 3, 2026
- Catch me up no longer waits forever on Chrome's on-device summarizer. It falls back to another on-device engine or tells you what is wrong.
- Includes the 1.2.1 and 1.2.2 fixes: correct chat names and message direction on the real WhatsApp Web, privacy blur covers messages, folder tabs respond while WhatsApp redraws, and Copy diagnostics is always at the bottom of the panel.
Versions 1.2.0, 1.2.1, 1.2.2, 1.2.5, 1.3.0 and 1.3.1 were never released; their changes are folded into the next live version. Questions or a bug? Email toolshed+wafolders@mail.grokbot.com.
